The Bromothane™ products are great cleaners that are strong, versatile and easy to handle when proper procedures are followed. For more information about using these products, browse the individual product specifications (below) our click to our Frequently Asked Questions about cleaning applications and carrier fluids.
Here are the current product offerings:
Bromothane™ S: This is the cleaning "S"tandard of the Bromothane™ product line; the “neat” solvent without any alcohol additives. Primarily used as a degreaser or a carrier fluid for lubricants or coatings. In general, it is a popular choice, but some of the other azeotropes offer enhanced cleaning capabilities.
Bromothane™ E: This is the flagship product of the Bromothane™ family, offering "E"nhanced cleaning for customers seeking to optimize their cleaning systems. This product is often selected by users in the electronics industry. Bromothane™ E is a proprietary high-performance azeotrope using a unique 15% alcohol content. While often selected as a defluxer, it performs equally well as a degreaser. This highly polar formulation out-performs competing products and delivers superior cleaning of both ionics and particulate. For example, it can remove tough fluxes and solder pastes from under the tightest BGA chips, and dissolve oils and even waxes from metal parts.
Bromothane™ R: This is the "R"egular nPB-based cleaner. It uses the popular 7.5% alcohol formulation and is a drop-in replacement for nPB cleaners for other vendors. Customers who select Bromothane™ R usually are current users of nPB-based cleaners who seek to upgrade to the Bromothane™ standards of quality and reliability. By converting to Bromothane™ R instead of competitive products, customers benefit from Bromothane quality without the costs of a major re-qualification process. Since the active ingredients are identical, Bromothane™ R "reduces" the amount of hassle involved in the conversion.
BromoTest™ Acid Acceptance Kit: This easy-to-use test should be performed on a regular basis (we recommend weekly) to measure the condition of the solvent and the concentration of the stabilizer. The kit includes the tools, the chemicals, the MSDS sheets and comprehensive instructions.
BromoBooster™ Stabilizer Additive: This is a stabilizer booster, used to restore the proper solvent-to-stabilizer ratio. The life of the cleaning solvent is extended by adding this product.
Air Monitoring Badges: This is another easy-to-use product which measures worker exposures to the solvent vapors. This tool ensures that the proper procedures and practices are being used. By ensuring all the right safety procedures are being followed everyone will be comfortable that workers have not been exposed to levels of solvent vapors above the recommended guidelines. The annual use of this product is a mandatory aspect of the MicroCare Product Stewardship Program.
