Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Bromothane™?

Bromothane™ is the brand name for a family of precision solvents made by MicroCare in conjunction with Great Lakes Chemical Corp. These solvents are used for all sorts of precision cleaning applications. It is ideal to remove fluxes from circuit boards or to degrease tiny metal parts. It can rinse away particulate and it also can be used to deposit coatings and lubricants. It is an incredibly versatile group of products.

To be more precise, the term Bromothane™ describes a family of solvents based on n-propyl bromide. Some of the products also contain other ingredients, such as alcohols, which enhance the solvent's performance in Typical Cleaning with Vertrelspecific cleaning applications or requirements. All of the cleaners also contain a unique stabilizer which controls acidity in the solvent and extends solvent life. The Bromothane™ products are true azeotropes (or mixtures that exhibit azeotropic-like behavior) which means they can be used repeatedly and safely in heated cleaning systems.

• Bromothane Replaces TCE, TCA, Perc and More •

The Bromothane™ products were developed by Great Lakes Chemical and MicroCare to provide safe, effective and environmentally acceptable alternatives to the old-style, ozone-depleting solvents used in many applications. Bromothane™ is a superior replacement for many solvents such as CFC-113, HCFC-225, HCFC-141b, TCE, TCA, perc, most aqueous-based cleaning products and many hydrocarbon-based choices. Properly used, Bromothane™ will deliver faster, better and cheaper cleaning than any equivalent product on the market today.
